Ops Mgr 2007 SP1 Data Integrity Errors

    SP1 Data Integrity Errors

After the installation of SP1, about 60-70% of the agents installed and updated to SP1 started showing warning messages, indicating Data Integrity issues.

The warning alert description is “The Health Service is receiving data items which are invalid. This can be an indication of a defect in a management pack or an attack on the health service. Examine the alert context for more details."

What would be helpful would be to have some additional knowledge included in the product knowledge, especially being that this is coming from a monitor in the Operations Manager MP.

More to come on this as we are still working on resolving this issue.

Ops Mgr SP1 - the good, the bad and the ugly

    SP1Notification Issues

After applying Ops Mgr 2007 SP1 RC1, we have seen a noticeable reduction in the errors and warning in the Operations Manager event log. This is the good news. The bad news is that even though we followed installation notes and disabled all of our alert notifications prior to applying the service pack, we are still having issues with notification subscriptions after applying SP1. In fact, the notification subscriptions appear to have become corrupted with the installation of the service pack.

After the installation of SP1, we began receiving the following error on the RMS: "Alert subscription data source module was unable to find alerts that match the subscription because of database errors.... Conversion failed when converted from a character string to unique identifier. One or more workflows were affected. This was followed by the GUIDs for the alert notification instance and the GUIDs for the subscriptions.

It appears that multiple subscriptions are affected, we had about 20 in total but some subscriptions are still functioning.

The OpsMgr event log on the RMS currently contains a significant number of Event ID 11402 that the Alert Subscription Availability Monitor checks for. These events occur frequently.

To resolve this issue, we could have spent the time identifying the offending notification subscriptions, deleting and recreating but instead, we just multi-selected, deleted them all and recreated them. The issues have now gone away.
