January 29 Office 2007 - Was expecting more from a performance perspective...Well I made the move to Office 2007 to enjoy some of the new functionality and I definitely (at least initially) took a productivity hit having to learn where everything has been moved to. That however was expected to some degree. What wasn't expected was the significant performance degradation that I am struggling with in Outlook 2007.
Granted, I have a large PST file on my notebook as it acts as a repository for client information, project information and a number of other things but my system, a new Dell XPS M1720 with an Intel Dual Core CPU and 4, yes four GBs of RAM slows to a crawl if not completely freezes when I click Send/Receive.
I have been investigating this issue to determine whether this issue is exclusive to me or if other people are seeing the same type of performance issues and it appears I am not alone.

So, I just received my new Dell M1710 XPS notebook and what a
system!! The RPM on the drive should be higher in my opinion based
on the specs in the system but c'est la vie. As it's marketed as a
game system and I am not a gamer, the one interesting feature is
the external lights which are red and really annoying by default.
Well after mentioning this to a colleague (Garth Jones) at a
training event last week, he referred me to
where you can download a great little program
(xps_led_control.exe) to either change the color of the lights or
turn them off completely.
To turn them off completely run: xps_led_control.exe -all 0
